The AGM is rapidly becoming one of the trip-calendar’s highlights, and this year to make it extra special, we were able to combine the day’s events with an evening Christmas Party.
Following morning drinks, we headed onto the Park for an ERS on The Big One and Steeplechase. Being on a Club trip and riding a coaster in December was a great, if a little chilly, thrill!
The warm buffet was very well received before the main-event began. Many presentations were given to the group from various members and guests. I spoke about our future trips including the first mention of our Austria/Hungary/Italy trip. Linz Hoy gave an insight into the Club accounts including all the facts and figures for the previous financial year. James Lloyd entertained everyone with various anecdotes from his time of working at Alton Towers – stories that will not be repeated here! Justin Garvanovic discussed details about the Japan trip and also IAAPA. Our keynote speaker was Nick Laister, who informed everyone of the current situation with Dreamland as well as Shipley Glen Pleasure Park.
The Christmas Party was held in the Horseshoe Bar and proved to be a lot of fun. I’m sure quite a few members woke the next day with very sore heads!
